RHoK Pretoria June 2013
by skullkey
Random Hacks of Kindness was this weekend, 1-2 June at UNISA, organized by UNISA Pro-Bono Computing (Jabu), CSIR (Ishmael) and House4Hack – although Jabu did most of the heavy lifting as usual.
The event was attended by 40+ enthusiastic and dedicated Rhoksters and 8 of these worked all night Saturday evening!
House4Hack and TUT (Tshwane University of Technology) again collaborated (previously at the Nasa hackathon) and this time won!

Our team had the following members:
- Shawn (Peace Corp)
- Raoul (TUT)
- Khuthadzo (TUT)
- Gabriel (TUT)
- Guy (H4H)
- Schalk (H4H)

We tackled a problem posed by Shawn Joshi from the Peace Corp and the following Prezi by Shawn explains the problem and the solution we built:
As a nice touch we added a Augmented Reality view to the solution and here is a video of Guy checking out the view and discovering where to go and where not to go:

We still have lots of work on this and hope to get it to a working product soon – if anyone is interested, the source code is here:

Well done to everyone who participated and helped to make this the best RHoK yet!
