Raspberry Pi is a credit-card sized computer ideal for learning about computing, Linux, interfacing with hardware such as sensors and actuators, as well as programming. It’s cheap, but powerful, and makes it possible to interact with the physical world.

In this course we’ll use the Raspberry Pi to learn Linux as well as some simple programming with Python and some interesting hardware projects.

We’ll conclude the course with setting up a Raspberry Pi as a working FM Transmitter, broadcasting over FM!

F. PiFM and other Electronics Projects

  • PiFM Broadcasting
  • RF Control Info
  • LCD on Raspi Info
  • Camera Module Info

Upon completion of this training course, it is expected that participants will be able to:

  •   Describe key features of a Linux operating system.
  •   Describe features of Raspberry Pi hardware.
  •   Set up and configure a Raspberry Pi.
  •   Understand simple programming projects for the Raspberry Pi.
  •   Understand simple hardware projects for the Raspberry Pi.

Time:     9.00 to 17.00
Cost:     R1500 per person and includes a GPIO interface kit and H4H raspbian remix SD card

Requirements: Bring your laptop – it needs to have an ethernet port and ideally 4GB of RAM – we use the ethernet port to communicate with the PI.

PI:  Bring your own Raspberry PI, model B, 2 or 3.  Raspberry PI A and zero not supported – needs a Ethernet connection.  If you do not have a raspberry pi, you can source one from http://pishop.co.za – go for the Raspberry PI 3, if you are not sure. We are also planning to do a bulk purchase – if you want us to buy it on your behalf, select the option below.
